Our History

Dove Christian Preschool, founded in 1980, offers a cheerful, well-rounded Christian environment with a complete academic program which includes social and cognitive development, creative art, health, nutrition and personal awareness, musical awareness, and worship, prayer and Bible stories. 

 

What We Offer

We believe in a balanced environment that offers children the ability to achieve in the following areas:
Intellectual:  we provide an environment conducive to learning, and encourage learning the skills necessary to prepare the children for a successful school career and meaningful participation in society.
Social:  we provide opportunities for growth in all social skills necessary for adequate integration in today's society.
Cultural:  we promote creativity in arts, and encourage children to appreciate cultural patterns different from their own.
Physical:  we provide opportunities for children to learn physical skills necessary for development.
Spiritual:  we provide a loving, cheerful Christian environment.

 

Our Teachers

Teacher Barb:
Barb has been teaching at Dove Christian Preschool since 2001.  Barb grew up in Illinois and spent her high school years in Wisconsin.

She has a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Montana.  She moved to Portland with her husband after college graduation.  Prior to her work at Dove, Barb was a recruiter for NIKE, as well as a stay-at-home mom.  Outside of teaching preschool, Barb volunteers at a local elementary school, and is a member of PEO.  Her hobbies include volleyball, photography, scrapbooking and puzzles.  Barb is also an active member of Multnomah Presbyterian Church. 

Barb is married to Tom.  Their two children, Mariah and Sam, graduated from Dove.  Mariah is a recent graduate of the University of Montana, and Sam is a freshman at the University of Montana. 

 

 

Teacher Teri:

Teri joined Dove in 2014.  She grew up in Corvallis, graduated in Business from Oregon State University, then moved to Seattle where she met her husband, Brian.  She worked as a Trader Assistant for lumber companies prior to being a stay-at-home mom.  While her daughter was preschool age, Teri and her family lived in Puerto Rico.  Over the past 18 years, Teri has been an avid volunteer at her kids' schools, a Girl Scout leader, and a co-leader at WOW Girl Scout Summer Day camp.  For several of those years, she led the "Widgets" preschool unit of brothers and little sisters.

Teri enjoys reading, hiking, kayaking and family road trips.  Her son, Johnathan, attends Wilson High School.  Her daughter, Maddie, graduated from Wilson High School and attends Western Washington University.
